Easy Chai Tea Mix

Recreate your favorite coffee house drink with my easy Chai Tea Mix!

Easy Chai Tea Mix

One of my favorite indulgences is a cup of steaming chai tea. I prefer it spicy and not too sweet (Starbucks is my favorite). Although I love classic chai tea, I used to frequent a cafe that served chocolate chai, and that was pretty amazing, too!

I’ve tried making my own chai mix a number of times, and it never tasted quite right. Until I came across a delicious and easy Chai Tea Mix. It’s super simple to make, spicy, and has the perfect amount of sweetness.

Give this easy Chai Tea Mix a try … I think you’ll love it, too!

Easy Chai Tea Mix (adapted from Knitting Nurse)

  • 1 14-oz. can fat-free sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 tsp. ginger
  • 1 tsp. cardamom
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp. cloves

Making the Chai Tea MixPour the condensed milk into a small bowl. Add spices and stir until completely combined. Store this easy Chai Tea Mix in the refrigerator until ready to use.

Making a Cup of Chai Tea

Brew a strong cup of tea. I recommend black or green tea, but feel free to experiment and use whatever you prefer. I actually used green tea flavored with blackberry and pomegranate for these pictures (it was all I had on hand), and it was delicious.

Brew a Cup of TeaAdd a heaping tablespoon of the easy Chai Tea Mix to the hot tea. Stir until mix and tea are fully incorporated.

Tip: try adding finely chopped dark chocolate to the hot tea to make chocolate chai … yum!

Add Chai Mix to TeaEnjoy your perfect cup of tea!

P.S. Isn’t my cutest mug? I get so many questions about it! I bought it years ago from Starbucks, and I kind of live in fear it will break … ha ha. This Cable Knit Coffee Mug is similar.

That looks tasty I never realized how many spices are in chai. No wonder I like it so much.

I will have to give this a try. My son & I love Chai Tea – your recipe sounds really good.

I’ve only tried the powdered DIY mixes, and I’m interested to see how your mix compares. 🙂 I’m definitely also a fan of the spic-y and not so sweet chais!

Do you think it’s possible to not use black tea or green tea? What could anyone recommend? Thanks!
