It has been so incredibly hot here in New York lately, and there are no signs of the heat letting up. To compound matters, going into the subway is like stepping into an oven. Needless to say, getting to work without looking like a hot, sweaty mess has been a challenge.
Lucky for me, my office is in the fashion district, so I've had plenty of sartorial inspiration for keeping my cool. I'd already been recreating some of these styles on my own, and I thought it would be fun to share how you can get the look, too.
What I love about this breezy summer style is that it's simple, but the details keep it from being boring. The light, loose fabrics and bare sandals are perfect for a steamy day, too.
Printed pants are really popular this year, and I have been eying this linen-blend pair from Loft for a while. Time to bite the bullet! To get a similar look as the inspiration picture, pair the pants with an easy to wear sleeveless blouse. If your office is cold or conservative, pack a light sweater in your purse.
Simple accessories are where it's at on sweltering days. A classic handbag, small gold studs, and a detailed bracelet add just enough interest to the outfit. And I love these gold sandals - at least your feet will be cool!
