Hello Friday! Link Roundup

Hey, friends! Happy Friday – we’ve almost made it through the work week.

My week went by quickly, although I kept thinking it was later in the week than it actually was. Does that ever happen to you? Kind of the worst!

Anyway, here are some things that caught my eye this week.

These people live in a barn, and I have to say I am a bit jealous!

I am in a major breakfast rut. These Carrot Muffins with Coconut and Pineapple look like a great alternative to my usual.

Check out this pretty Lace-Braided Bun. My braiding skills are sub-par, so I’m not sure I could accomplish this, but one can aspire!

I know it’s not cool to eat carbs, but everything in moderation right? For the other bread lovers out there, I think you’ll enjoy it even more with a generous dose of this Tuscan Dipping Oil.

lunch at the New York Public LibraryAnother day, another lunch in the park – this time in front of the New York Public Library.

This print from SS Print Shop is a great reminder to focus on the good things in life.

I love this bar cart makeover. I’ve seen these kind of tables everywhere, including on the curb. Grab one and try your hand at this fun project.

I love fennel, which is why I can’t wait to try this Spinach and Carmelized Fennel Dip. Yum!

This stoneware crock from Ace is seriously affordable. You could definitely fool people into thinking it’s a pricey vintage version. I have a similar one that actually is vintage (it was handed down to me), and I use it to store kitchen utensils.

If you are on the hunt for dresses, check out Ruche. A lot of the styles are a bit too feminine/girly for me, but they’ve got a ton of cute options.

Has anyone tried making homemade deodorant? I’m curious to try, but a little nervous to test drive it, if you know what I mean!

This Thai-Inspired Cucumber Salad with Roasted Spiced Chickpeas looks like the perfect summer meal.

Have a great weekend!

Simple, Stylish Summer Work Style

When I lived in San Francisco, the weather was consistently in the 50s and 60s year round. It was easy to get dressed, and my work “uniform” consisted of sweaters and some sort of bottom (usually pants to ward off the chill). I’m finding that doesn’t really work here in New York.

Thanks to the crazy humidity here, I pretty much gave up on sweaters about two months ago. I’ve been slowly reworking my wardrobe ever since, investing in lightweight tops, skirts, and pants. And I think I’m finally getting the hang of it!

Here are three outfits that I’ve found work well in hot, humid weather.

For days when I need to look polished, I like to wear a pencil skirt with a tailored, light-weight top and clean-lined accessories. Simple and easy!

My new office has a casual dress code, which means that jeans are the norm. I still like to look pulled together, so nothing torn or faded.

White jeans with a cute top and simple accessories makes a casual, but stylish look. On a really hot day, I would replace the jeans with a white skirt.

Summer is the perfect time to have some fun with your work wardrobe!

Start with bright cotton pants and a loose silk blouse. Then add some pop with your accessories. Florals and stripes are a cheerful and easy way to mix prints, and I’m obsessed with this La Mer Wrap Watch! Finish off the look with a colorful stack of rings and bright earrings.

Happy Friday! Link Roundup

We are in the middle of a serious heat wave here in New York. Ninety degrees and it’s not even June yet (insert sad face).

Living in San Francisco for the past six years has made me seriously wimpy when it comes to temperature extremes. I’m determined to make the best of it though, so this week I rounded up some ideas to help keep you cool this summer.

Pretty Flowers in Our NeighborhoodPretty flowers in our neighborhood.

I’ve declared this the summer of the Tom Collins. Dress up your favorite drink with a festive cocktail stick.

Use up those summer veggies with one of these 38 awesome vegetarian grilling recipes!

Paint an old ladder and turn it into a plant shelf. Cute!

Uncomfortable Chuck TaylorsIs it just me, or are Chucks the most uncomfortable shoes? Good thing they are cute!

I can’t wait to try out my new ice cream maker (totally necessary in a tiny NYC kitchen, right?). This blueberry muffin ice cream recipe is at the top of my list.

I have an unhealthy affection for cheesy (literally and figuratively) Mexican restaurants. Mexican Unfried Ice Cream – need I say more?

Feeling crafty? Try making a pair of these DIY Marc Jacobs bracelets. They are guaranteed to perk up a basic shorts and t-shirt outfit.

Upper West Side Neighboring BuildingsI love these gorgeous buildings in my neighborhood. Fraternal twins!

I’m turning off my oven for the summer. Check out this roundup of 10 summer salads. The heirloom tomato salad looks delicious.

Celebrating a bride-to-be this summer? This sweet and summery berry themed bridal shower is so pretty! I love how they used berry boxes to hold the flowers.

OK, this sounds seriously amazing: Blood Orange and Moscato Float via Glitter Guide.

East River ParkwayWe took a walk along the East River last weekend. It was a gorgeous day!
