Ingredients
This creamy spread uses simple ingredients you can find at any grocery store! Here's what you'll need:
- Artichokes - You'll need one can of quartered artichoke hearts for this recipe.
- Cream Cheese - Rich cream cheese forms the dip's base.
- Sour Cream - A little sour cream lightens up the spread's texture and adds a tangy taste.
- Green Onions - Fresh green onions brighten the rich dip's flavor.
- Garlic - A clove of fresh garlic adds a burst of sharp, garlicky flavor.
- Lemon - Fresh lemon juice and zest lightens up the creamy dip and enhances the other flavors.
- Seasoning - You'll season the dip with salt and pepper, and you can also add a dash of hot sauce, if you'd like.
This yummy appetizer is naturally vegetarian, nut free, and gluten free (always check labels if you have an allergy).
You'll Also Need
A food processor makes throwing this recipe together a snap. If you don't have one, you can mince the artichokes, garlic, and green onions, the mix everything together by hand (or use a hand or stand mixer). I also recommend using a microplane zester (one of my fave kitchen tools!) to zest the lemon.
How to Make Artichoke Spread
This cream Lemon Artichoke Dip couldn't be easier to make! You'll find a detailed recipe card below, but here's an overview of the steps:
- Mince garlic and green onions. Start by adding the green onions and garlic to your food processor, then pulse until them together until minced.
- Blend in remaining ingredients. Next, you'll add the cream cheese, sour cream, lemon juice + zest, green onions, garlic, salt and pepper, and a few dashes of hot sauce (if you'd like). Process these ingredients together until well combined (it doesn't have to be totally smooth).
- Add artichokes. Finally, you'll pulse in the artichoke hearts, just until they're chopped and the spread has a chunky texture.
And that's all there is to it ... your homemade Artichoke Spread is ready to eat! You are going to love this yummy dip's creamy texture and bold, bright flavor.
Variations
Feeling like experimenting? Here are a few easy ideas to try:
- Spinach - Blend in some cooked spinach (make sure to chop it, then drain it well) for a delicious spinach artichoke twist on the recipe.
- Cheesy - Mix in some crumbled feta or sharp cheddar cheese.
- Herbs - Add fresh herbs, such as chives, dill, or mint.
- Lightened Up - While I don't recommend using fat free, reduced fat cream cheese or light sour cream would work well.
- Other Ideas - Consider adding other flavorful ingredients, such as olives or roasted peppers.
Serving Suggestions
Pair this creamy spread with your favorite fresh veggies, such as cherry or grape tomatoes, carrots, bell peppers, cucumbers, and more. It's also wonderful served with something crunchy, like Crostini Toasts, Homemade Crackers, Pita Chips, or your favorite potato chips.
You could also use this spread as a topping for bruschetta, or even serve it as a sandwich spread. It would be delicious served on crusty bread, especially if you paired with with some baby greens or thinly sliced cucumbers.

If you have leftover Artichoke Cream Cheese Spread, store it in an airtight container in your refrigerator, where it will stay fresh for three to four days.

Notes
Nutrition

It seems that you mean a can of preserved artichokes (not a jar of marinated ones) Perhaps you could be more specific for folks who only know about the marinated type.
You can buy canned, unmarinated artichoke hearts. I think that's what she means.
Those are the ones ... thanks, Donna! 🙂
Hi, Laurel. Yes, I used canned artichokes, but I think the marinated kind would great work, too.
