My husband surprised me with a Heart Shaped Pizza one Valentine's Day.

We had just moved to San Francisco and were waiting for our belongings to catch up with us.

It was just the two of us in an empty apartment with a cute pizza and a bottle of wine. I thought it was so sweet!

How to Make a Heart Shaped Pizza

Our Valentine's Days are generally very casual, and I still love the idea of a Heart Shaped Pizza. So this year, I decided that I'm going to surprise him with one.

This is pretty much the world's easiest trick. You'll start with a circle, then shape your dough into a heart shape. Exagerate the points a bit, because the dough will expand in the oven.

My stove is tiny and so are my pans, so your pizza may be a little more traditionally shaped than mine ... ha! Use a large baking sheet or pizza pan and you'll have plenty of space to create a perfect heart.

You can make one large pizza or a number of smaller pizzas (perfect for families!). If you want to make mini heart shaped pizzas, simply divide the dough into smaller pieces before you shape it.

After you've shaped your dough into a heart, all you need to do is add your toppings and bake the pizza.

I made my favorite Green Pizza, which is my take on the pie my husband surprised me with that first Valentine's Day in San Francisco!

Keep reading after the recipe for more pizza topping ideas.

Whether it's Valentine's Day or not, this is a recipe that everyone will love!
