Are you a pumpkin fan? I definitely am, and usually around mid-August, I start thinking about the many pumpkin treats I'm going to be enjoying soon!
Since we're finally starting to get cooler weather here in Dallas, I had to treat myself to one of my fall favorites, this Pumpkin Spice Steamer.
This hot pumpkin drink is something I look forward to sipping every year, and once you try it, you will too! It's super rich, creamy, and full of yummy pumpkin flavor ... it kind of tastes like a pumpkin hot chocolate (minus the chocolate) or a pumpkin spice latte without coffee.
Best of all, it's incredibly easy to make. Which means you can enjoy it all autumn long! Find out how to make one below.
What is a steamer?
A steamer is simply steamed milk, usually with some sort of flavoring add.
You don't need a steamer to make this Pumpkin Steamer recipe, although it is made with hot milk. If you're a fan of the Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Crème, then you'll love this copycat drink, because it's very similar.
Ingredients
You may be wondering ... what's in a steamer? This recipe uses really simple ingredients. Here's what you'll need:
- Evaporated Milk
- Canned Pumpkin Puree
- Brown Sugar
- Vanilla Extract
- Spices: Cinnamon, Ginger, Cloves, Nutmeg
- For Topping: Heavy Cream + Powdered Sugar
The evaporated milk is what makes this drink so rich and creamy. If you'd prefer, you can substitute whole milk though.
I used a combo of warm fall spices for this drink. You could replace these individual spices with Pumpkin Pie Spice if you have that on hand.
How to Make a Pumpkin Spice Steamer
This pumpkin spice drink is super simple to make.
Grab a medium, heavy bottom saucepan. Add the evaporated milk, pumpkin puree, vanilla extract, and spices, then whisk everything together.
Gently warm these ingredients over medium-low heat, stirring often. Once it's steaming hot, you're done.
While the steamer is heating up, make the whipped cream topping. Combine the heavy cream and sugar in a medium bowl, then whisk them together until you get a soft peak. You could also do this with a hand mixer, if you'd prefer.
To finish your drink, add the pumpkin-milk mixture to a mug or small heatproof glass, then top with whipped cream. A sprinkle of cinnamon is the perfect finishing touch.
And that's all there is to it ... so easy to make and so delicious, too. Treat your family to this yummy Pumpkin Spice Steamer drink tonight!
