Do you have a something about yourself you've always wanted to change? I think we all do!
Since I was a teen, I've been self-conscious about my teeth ... they're a little crooked.
I used to spend a lot of time focused on my teeth, wishing they were just a bit straighter. Thankfully, over the years I've learned to make the most of what I have.
And you know what? Now I love my smile!
3 Tips for Getting a Bright, Beautiful Smile
There's definitely something to be said for learning to make the most of what you have and embracing your little quirks. And a bright, beautiful smile is the perfect way to boost your confidence!
Today, I'm showing you how to get a pretty smile in three easy steps. Of course, it all starts with taking care of your teeth. Beyond dental care, we'll talk about how to choose the most flattering lip colors and how to apply lipstick for the longest-lasting results.
Let's get started!
1. Whiten Your Teeth Easily and Naturally
When it comes to having a bright, beautiful smile, nothing gives me more confidence than clean, white teeth, which is why I like brushing with Tom's of Maine Luminous White Toothpaste.
Taking care of my teeth is an important part of my everyday routine, and the easiest way to get whiter teeth is by using a whitening toothpaste daily. That way you don't even have to think about it. No messy strips required!
If you're anything like me, you're becoming more conscious about what you put in and on your body. You're probably already familiar with Tom's of Maine, a leading natural products company, and Luminous White toothpaste is its most advanced natural whitening toothpaste. It's safe on enamel and safe for everyday use.
Not only is Tom's natural, but it works fast, too. Luminous White whitening toothpaste offers effective whitening with only naturally-derived ingredients that work to gently remove surface stains for whiter teeth in just two weeks. Perfect for impatient people like me!
Tom's uses clinically proven natural whitening technology to remove surface stains that is also safe for everyday use. Plus, it contains no artificial flavors, colors, or preservatives. There's also no animal testing, and it's gluten free.
Of course, for best results you should make this whitening toothpaste a part of your regular routine. I won't tell you how to brush your teeth, but here's a tip straight from my dentist: choose a brush with soft bristles.
I know I'm tempted sometimes to really get in there and scrub my teeth, but gentler really is better. A soft brush won't irritate your gums, but it will still get the job done!
2. Choose the Right Lip Color
Now that you've got a good dental routine going, it's time to highlight your lips with a pretty color!
I love experimenting with bold lip colors for events and nights out ... they're perfect for making your smile pop! I'll try any color, but there are definitely shades that will make your teeth look whiter than others.
If you want to make your teeth look as white as possible, then avoid lipsticks with yellow or orange undertones. That's not to say you can never rock a gorgeous orange, brown, or coral shade, but your teeth won't look as vibrant if you do.
So what colors should you choose? Look for shades with blue undertones, like bright pinks and cool reds.
Keep in mind too, that darker lipsticks will provide more contrast than lighter colors, making your teeth look whiter in comparison.
3. Apply Color for Long-Lasting Results
Keeping these tips in mind, I went with a bold, glossy red with cool undertones. I LOVE this vibrant lip color!
The trickiest part about wearing a dark lip color is getting it to last (and not get all over your teeth ... ha!). Thankfully, I've got some easy tips for long-lasting color.
First, start by lining and filling in your lips with lip liner in a shade that's close to your natural lip color. The liner works as a primer, helping your lipstick last longer and keeping it from bleeding.
Next, apply your color. Then, let your lipstick set for a minute or two and grab a tissue.
Pull the tissue apart, so you only have one ply. Blot any excess color off your lips (especially if your lipstick is super glossy like mine is). They shouldn't feel sticky.
Place the single ply tissue over your lips, then apply a light dusting translucent powder over the tissue.
Toss the tissue and apply your final coat of lipstick, which the powder will help hold in place.
If you're worried about getting lipstick on your teeth, place a finger between your pursed lips, then slowly pull it out. Your finger will catch any color on the inside of your lips that might otherwise be transferred to your teeth.
These easy tips will help your bright, beautiful smile last all night long!
And even if the top coat wears off, your lips will be stained underneath. A quick touch up is all you'll need to be smiling pretty again.
