Combine oats, milk, maple syrup, cocoa powder, vanilla, and salt in a mason jar. Mix well.
Cover jar and refrigerate oats overnight or for at least 4 hours.

Any kind of milk works for this recipe, although 2% or whole make will make the oatmeal creamier. To make the recipe vegan, substitute your favorite plant-based milk, such as almond, soy, or coconut milk.
