This delicious Balsamic Cherry Sauce is the perfect way to use up this favorite summer fruit. Serve over cake or ice cream.

  • 1/4 pound unsalted butter
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • pinch salt
  • 4 cups cherries, pitted and halved
  1. Add butter, brown sugar, balsamic vinegar, and salt to a medium saucepan and place over medium-low heat.

  2. Cook, stirring constantly, until butter is melted and everything is combined.
  3. Add cherries and stir to coat.
  4. Raise heat and bring to a boil.
  5. Reduce heat to low and simmer until cherries are tender and sugar is completely dissolved, about 5 minutes.
  6. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.
  7. Serve sauce warm over ice cream, cake, or pancakes. Enjoy!


Refrigerate unused sauce. Rewarm before serving.
