Welcome to Hello Little Home! I’m Ginnie, the writer, photographer, recipe developer, traveler, crafter, and chief content creator behind the blog!
About Hello Little Home
Hello Little Home is all about inspiring everyday creativity. It’s easy to get stuck in a rut or a routine, and to forget to do the little things that make life interesting and fun. Trust me, I’ve been there.
I started this blog in 2013. My husband and I had just moved to New York City after living in San Francisco for five years. I was working in marketing, which seems fun, but in reality, it involves lots of spreadsheets. Creativity has always been a huge part of my life, and I wanted an outlet to share all the ideas that were bubbling around in my head.
And that’s how Hello Little Home was born!
My hope is that I’ll inspire you to try something new, whether that’s cooking a delicious vegetarian recipe, traveling somewhere new, working on a fun DIY project, or updating your living room.
You don’t need to be an amazing cook, have a huge house, be a world-class crafter, or have tons of money to try my ideas. I’ll show you how to do it the easy way!
Hanging out with Meredith Vieira ... definitely a pinch me moment, and she was super sweet!
Since starting Hello Little Home, I have appeared on the Meredith Vieira Show, and my projects have been featured by Martha Stewart Living, House Beautiful, Brit + Co, Good Housekeeping, Buzzfeed, Shutterfly, and more.
I’ve also had the chance to work with some of my favorite companies, including The Home Depot, Olay, Bigelow Tea, Coca-Cola, Calphalon, JOANN, and Maybelline, to name a few.
About Ginnie
This website has opened lots of fun doors ... which is pretty cool for a girl who grew up in small town Wisconsin!
I was that crafty kid who was always making something, sewing her own Barbie clothes, spending my free time drawing and reading, and cooking with my mom.
When I wasn’t crafting, I was dreaming of moving to the big city. And I actually did it! Since college, I’ve lived in Chicago, San Francisco, and New York ... there was even a short stint in Florida! My husband and I move a lot for his job, and we’re currently living in Dallas.
A few things about me … I love breakfast sandwiches and iced coffee, looking at pictures of cute puppies, exploring my city, traveling somewhere new, eating out, and binge-watching Netflix and Hulu. I aspire to be super organized, but things get pretty messy around here … don’t let the pretty pictures fool you!
Most of all, I love trying new things. I hope to inspire you to do something new, too!

the recipe I was referring to is Christmas Honey Cookie

Hi Ginniie,
Just wondered where you received this recipe. I am 87 years old and my Grandmother gave me a book published in 1924 with this exact recipe in it.. We played with recipe and came up with 2-1/2 cups flower. The cookbook "Woman's Alliance Cook Book, was published in Merrill Wis and the recipe was submitted by a Mrs. R>C> Ballstadt.. I see you are also from Wisconsin, iis she a relative? These cookies have been a family favorite since I was little. Helped my grandmother in 1940 when so many things were rationed. My relative from Merrill was a Ruprecht (last name).

Hi, Diane. That is so interesting, and now I feel like I need to track down that cookbook! The recipe was from my mom's cookbook, which was basically a collection of handwritten recipes from friends / family and recipes clipped from magazines. This one was handwritten, so I'm assuming she either copied it out of a cookbook (maybe this one!) or got it from a friend. Those last names don't ring a bell unfortunately (at least to me). Her last name was Dantoin, and most of our relatives on her side were from Kewaunee / Door Counties. I'm sure if I dove a little deeper, I could find the connection though. Thank you so much for commenting, this is so interesting! Ginnie
Ainur
Hi:) I found your little home blog very interesting. And it inspired me a lot, cuz I also a very big fun of DIYs.
Ginnie
Hi, Ainur! I'm so glad you've enjoyed reading and found some fun ideas 🙂
Linda
I made your Vegetarian Breakfast Enchiladas last Christmas and they were such a hit that I am making them again this Christmas. Do you think it would be ok to use snack size flour tortillas instead of corn tortillas?
Ginnie
Hi, Linda! I'm so glad to hear that you and your family loved the recipe! Yes, that should work totally fine, the enchiladas will just have a slightly different texture. Merry Christmas 🙂
