Preheat oven to 350°F (177°C). Spray a 9 x 5-inch loaf pan with nonstick spray. Set aside.
Whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
Add beer to dry ingredients. Fold beer into flour with a spatula, mixing until just combined.
Transfer dough to loaf pan, then pour melted butter over top.
Bake bread until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean, about 50 minutes.
Remove bread from pan and cool on baking rack for at least 30 minutes before eating. Enjoy!
Notes
When measuring the flour, make sure to scoop the flour into the measuring cup with a spoon, then level off the top with a straight edge (such as a knife). If you scoop the cup into the flour, you will compress the flour, and your measurements will be off.For the most tender bread, avoid over-mixing the beer and dry ingredients. Rather than stirring vigorously, fold the ingredients together using a spatula (these silicone spatulas are my fave!), and stop mixing as soon everything is combined. A few spots of flour are fine.Baking time can vary depending on your oven. I usually start checking the bread at about 45 minutes, just to be on the safe side.I usually only use two tablespoons of butter, but three or four tablespoons will make the finished loaf extra buttery. It's up to you ... try it both ways! It's fun and easy to adapt the bread's flavor by adding cheese, garlic, herbs, jalapeños, and more.
