Butter outside of bread slices. Mix cheddar and provolone cheeses together.
Place one slice of bread (butter-side down) in hot frying pan. Top with cheese.
Cover pan. When cheese has melted, remove lid and top sandwich with other bread slice (butter-side up).
Increase heat to medium, then cook sandwich (uncovered) until golden-brown on bottom. Flip, then cook until browned on other side.
Serve immediately. Enjoy!
Notes
I used large slices of bread cut from a round sourdough loaf (boule). If you use a smaller loaf, you may want to cut down on the cheese and butter slightly, or make two sandwiches.Pair with Tomato Soup and / or a Garden Salad for an easy dinner!Make sure to start cooking this sandwich over medium-low heat to ensure the cheese melts. Once it has melted, you can crank up the heat to medium.Check out the info before this recipe card for more tips and tricks, variations, related recipes, and serving ideas!
