Mix butter, Parmesan, and garlic. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
Slice bread in half length-wise, then spread with butter mixture.
Place bread halves on a baking sheet. Bake until butter is melted and bread is crispy on edges, about 10 minutes.
Cut each bread half into 6 to 8 slices.

For a milder garlic flavor, replace the raw garlic with a head of roasted garlic.If you'd like to save a few calories, you can cut the butter down to 6 tablespoons.
