Have you heard of the Beergarita? I can tell you exactly when I became aware of this drink with a funny name.
My husband and I were living in Chicago at the time (too many years ago to count!), and he returned home one day after spending the afternoon at his favorite sports bar. He told me he'd enjoyed the game ... and a few Beergaritas, a beer margarita combination.
Wait ... what?
To be honest, the drink sounded kind of ridiculous to me at the time. I think it was mostly the silly name. But, the joke was on me, because the Beergarita is actually pretty awesome!
Seriously though, you have to try this easy Beergarita recipe! These beer cocktails are so quick to make, and they taste amazing. If you're looking for fun party drinks, Cinco de Mayo cocktails, or football party drinks, then this is it.
I don't know about you, but for me, Cinco de Mayo is the perfect excuse to get together with friends and enjoy amazing Mexican food. I like to mark the day each year with a delicious spread and a refreshing cocktail or beer.
And it doesn't get any more refreshing than these easy Beergaritas, which are simply a combination of beer and a margarita.
This beer mix drink might sound complex, but they really are easy to make.
What is a Beergarita?
Okay, first things first ... before we get to the recipe, let's talk about what a Beergarita actually is.
A Beergarita is a combination of a margarita and a beer. I was super skeptical when I first heard of this beer margarita cocktail, but they're really refreshing and delicious!
If you've ever ordered one in a bar, it's probably been served with a mini Corona bottle in it. Have you seen those?
It may have been called Corona margarita (or Coronarita), beer rita, or beer 'garita ... no matter what you call these tasty drinks though, you're going to love them!
Ingredients
This easy beer drink has three ingredients:
- Beer
- Limeade
- Tequila
- Optional Garnish
With so few components, you'll want to make sure to choose the right ingredients. Which I why I like to use Modelo Especial or Corona Light for these beer margaritas.
Corona Light is an authentic Mexican Beer. If you've ever been to a summer party, I'm sure you're very familiar with this light pilsner-style lager and its smooth taste and distinctive hop flavor. It really does make any moment spent relaxing with friends more special!
The pleasant, fruity-honey aroma of Corona Light is perfect for this beer cocktail. Plus, each bottle of this refreshing cerveza only has 99 calories, which means there's more room for that delicious Mexican food. It pairs especially well with spicy and citrus-infused dishes.
How to Make Beergaritas
Once you have your beer, it's time to make this easy beer margarita recipe! And I promise that if you can stir, you can make these cocktails ... they really are that simple!
Simply combine all the ingredients in a pitcher and mix well. That's all.
This drink goes down easy, and it's hard to stop at one! So feel free to double or triple this recipe, if you're making Beergaritas for a crowd.
This recipe is pretty strong though, so serve it over plenty of cracked ice.
Garnishing the Finished Drink
To make these these beer cocktails extra special, I like to serve them in salted rim glasses with a generous slice of lime.
It's the perfect finishing touch.
So now that you know how easy this Beergarita recipe is, grab your friends and make a batch for the ultimate Cinco de Mayo party!
