When I was unpacking my fall wardrobe last week, I noticed there was a lot of black and gray. My summer clothes are fairly bright, but when fall rolls around I definitely start to crave darker clothing. It just seems to fit the season better.
I thought it would be fun to pull together some of my favorite fall finds that are on the darker side. This is the kind of outfit I'd wear for drinks and dinner with my husband.

I love the skirt's fun bow and metallic color, and I let it inspire the rest of the look. I'd pair the skirt with a simple blouse with a sweet detail, like the lace on this shirt. Tights and suede booties warm up the outfit, but if it was really cold out I'd add a black cardi.
I'm in love with this wool coat, a trench with moto-style zippers. Very cool! The foldover clutch also has a little edge and a hidden strap if you want to keep your hands free. I would keep the other accessories fairly simple and add some sparkly studs, a stack of black rings, and, just for fun, a dancing legs cover for my phone.
Makeup is the perfect place to add a punch of color. Start with your nails. I love both of these colors - a frosted concrete gray and a deep dark red creme - from Julep (one of my favorite polish brands). Create a subtle cat-eye with black Stila liner - it's my favorite!
Finally, red lipstick will brighten your lips. Here's how to apply it if you're color-shy: apply the lipstick, blot your lips with a tissue (the red should stain your lips), and apply neutral lip gloss.
