Industrial Bedroom Makeover
As you know, I’m a Brand Ambassador for Graham & Brown, a British company that has been innovating the home improvement market for 70 years. Graham & Brown has predicted a number of fun interior design trends for 2015, and I’m sharing a new trend with you each month! (Check out my post from last month: 5 Creative Ways to Use Wallpaper.)
This month’s trend is Industrial:
The Industrial trend is focused on raw, stripped back materials. It prompts us to see the beauty in things we may often overlook. Featuring metallic tones and rough textures, the combination of sleek colors and harsh surfaces creates a contemporary look.
Of all the trends that Graham & Brown has asked me to interpret, Industrial is my favorite! I've always been liked things with a little rust, rough edges, and extra character.
Back in my college days, I studied photography and my favorite places to take photos were junkyards and abandoned buildings. I'm not sure why, but I was drawn to the worn edges, rusty pipes, and other industrial elements that I found there.
I've been thinking about making over my bedroom for a while, and I took this month's trend as an invitation to do just that!
My inspiration: Graham & Brown's Lit Arrow Metal Art.
This gorgeous, oversized marquee light was the perfect starting point for my industrial bedroom makeover. It adds a fun element to the room that was missing before, and I love the beautiful turquoise color.
The arrow adds a touch of industrial style to the room, as does my new artwork from Graham & Brown, this Brooklyn Bridge Lights Printed Canvas.
I love all the contrasting lines in this awesome print!
I added a black and white photo from my wedding, too. The newly revamped wall is in a corner next to my bedroom window at the foot of the bed.
The room is so small that it's hard to get a picture of the whole thing, but you can check out this post to see the layout and how it looked before.
Of course, the place where you sleep should also be warm and inviting, so my industrial bedroom makeover isn't too edgy!
My new Graham & Brown Meadow Pillows add a pretty touch and are a great counterpart to the black and white art and metal marquee light.
How gorgeous are those pillows?
I have been in love with them since I first spotted them, so it was only a matter of time until I made them mine!
I think my industrial bedroom makeover came together very well.
Isn't it awesome how a few new pieces can make such a big impact?
Here's how you can get the Industrial Bedroom look:
- Headboard: I love my West Elm Tall Grid-Tufted Headboard. It's super comfortable (perfect for late night reading) and makes a great statement in my room.
- Bedding: This Homethreads Cecelia Solid Quilt Set is similar to the coverlet I have on my bed. I love snuggling under a down filled duvet in winter, but it's way too hot in my bedroom (radiator problems!). A light quilt is a wonderful alternative.
- Pillows: These gorgeous Graham & Brown Meadow Pillows add a feminine touch to my bedroom, but they would look beautiful in any room!
- Art: My new Graham & Brown Lit Arrow Metal Art is the star of my industrial bedroom makeover! I paired it with a Brooklyn Bridge Lights Printed Canvas by David Clapp and a black and white photo framed in a Room Essentials Wood Frame.
Do you like the industrial trend as much as I do?
Such a beautiful room! The pillows are my favorite!
Thank you so much, Kate! The pillows are my fave, too! 🙂
I love there stuff, I too have been writing posts for them. They are very trendy there stuff and your industrial makeover is a great idea for my daughter bedroom. I think I'm going to help re do her apartment using some of Graham and Brown.
They do have beautiful products! I can't wait to see how it turns out, Maria!
