One Dress: Wear Now or Wear Later

Shopping-wise, this is one of my favorite times of year (weather-wise, forget it). Fall styles are starting to show up in stores and online, and it's fun to start mixing a few of the lighter pieces into my wardrobe.

There's a new Loft store in my neighborhood, and as I was walking by yesterday, I happened to notice a pretty dress in the window. The material looked lightweight, and the drapey fit seemed perfect for wearing right now, but the darker color is perfect for fall, too.

I started mentally accessorizing the dress to wear now or wear later. Here's what I'd do:

Wear Now:

To wear this pretty dress now, I'd start by rolling up the sleeves above the elbow. Then, it can either be dressed up with a pair of wedge sandals (on sale!) or down with a pair of gold sandals. I'd add a studded crossbody bag to keep my hands free.

There is nothing worse than heavy jewelry in hot weather, so accessories are minimal. I love these anchor post earrings and lightweight bangle set. Finish the outfit with a pair of aviator sunglasses. This pair is under $10, so you won't mind if you lose them (why does that always happen in summer?).

Wear Later

To take the dress into fall, all you need are some warm accessories. Start with a pair of tights and some leather booties ($50 off right now!). A jean jacket will carry the dress throughout fall, and if it's really chilly, add a cute beanie.

As for accessories, I'd carry a big, tasseled, caramel leather bag and add some matching tassel earrings. (A lady can never have enough tassels, in my opinion!) I'd stack on some fun bracelets, too.
