I love coming up with unique gift ideas. Whether it's handmade or simply unexpected, there's something so special about surprising someone with a great gift!
With Mother's Day almost here, I knew that I had to come up with an idea that was a little different.
Gift baskets are always fun to give and receive. I mean, who doesn't enjoy opening a bunch of presents?
So when Amara contacted me about their gorgeous Mother's Day gifts, I knew exactly what I wanted to create ... a Purse Gift Basket.
Amara is known for their luxurious home decor and lifestyle selection, and I have to say, browsing their site is so fun! It almost feels like your best friend picked everything out just for you. Each item is better and more covet-worthy than the last.
They also carry the perfect gift for any mom—everything from jewelry to candles to teapots (and more)—which made putting this Purse Gift Basket together so enjoyable!
And what mom wouldn't want a fun bag packed with tons of goodies?
My favorite thing about this Purse Gift Basket is that it's totally customizable.
Simply change the bag and scarf for a whole different look. You could also use a large tote or even a small clutch, depending on the gifts you're giving. And of course, you can customize the gifts inside, too.
So while I created this Purse Gift Basket with mom in mind, it would be the perfect present for any friend, too!
How to Make a Purse Gift Basket
Want to make your own Purse Gift Basket? Here's what you'll need:
- Purse
- Scarf
- Tissue Paper
- Ribbon
- Gifts (Such as candles, chocolate, wine, books, jewelry, and other trinkets ... check out Amara for a wonderful curated selection!)
Start by choosing a bag and a coordinating scarf. I selected a Joules Tourer Cross-Body Bag for it's beautiful, vibrant color along with a Joules Carnival Scarf, which I'm kind of obsessed with (that pom pom trim!). Make sure your bag is large enough to hold your gifts.
Then comes the best part ... choosing the presents that will go inside! I had so much fun browsing Amara's website and selecting my favorites. It wasn't easy with so many gorgeous options!
The first gift I chose was a Voluspa Candle. I love the light floral fragrance, and the patterned container is beautiful. Plus, what mom doesn't love a candle?
My next choice was a pair of Ted Baker Hetti Confetti Heart Earrings which I've completely fallen in love with. Aren't they pretty?
I adore the chic rose gold color, and studs are super versatile. There's also a matching ring!
The Kate Spade Recipe Book I chose is perfect for any mom who loves cooking!
Make sure to add a few of your favorite family recipes for a fun surprise when your mom opens the book.
The recipe book was a little too big for my medium size bag, so I'll be gifting that separately.
The last item I selected for my Purse Gift Basket was a sweet Skultuna Heart Paperweight.
Your mom will think about you every time she spots it on a stack of papers or books!
This Purse Gift Basket is so easy to assemble.
Because my bag has a flap, I started by tucking it into the bag. That way you're able to see the scarf and the gifts inside.
If you're using an open top bag, like a tote, you can skip this step.
Next, I placed the scarf in the bag.
Make sure to let some of the scarf hang over the bag a bit, especially if your scarf has fun details like mine.
The pom pom trim on this scarf added so much character to the gift!
Depending on how many gifts you are including, you many need to fill the bottom of the bag with a little tissue paper. This will help prop up the gifts so everything doesn't sink into the bag.
Once you do that, start arranging your gifts inside the bag.
All of the items I ordered from Amara came in a box or with pretty packaging. However, you can individually wrap your presents or add bows if you'd prefer.
I like to let a few gifts peek out of the top, especially if they come in a pretty package, like this candle!
The bag I used had a long handle, so I gathered it together and tied a ribbon around it.
A big bow looks pretty and keeps the handle manageable at the same time.
If you're using a large tote bag or a purse with a shorter handle, you could tie a bow at the top or on the side.
And that's it ... your Purse Gift Basket is ready to give! Isn't it pretty?
I couldn't resist tucking in a little chocolate, too.
This Purse Gift Basket makes the perfect Mother's Day gift, but it's great for other occasions, too!
And like I mentioned earlier, it's completely customizable depending on the bag, scarf, and gifts you use.
So give it to a friend for her birthday or as a thank you, or surprise your bridesmaids with one, too. And make sure to check out Amara for the perfect little luxuries to include inside!
