I absolutely LOVE decorating for the holidays, so I was beyond excited when The Home Depot invited me to join their Holiday Style Challenge!
Before I even had a blog, I admired the festive rooms and projects some of my favorite bloggers created for this annual challenge.
So to be invited to participate ... let's just say I was excited!
The only problem?
The Home Depot asked me to decorate a dining room which, to be honest, had me a little concerned.
My tiny NYC apartment doesn't have room for a table, let alone a separate dining space. So I had to get very creative when it came time to create my rustic glam holiday dining room!
How to Create a Rustic Glam Holiday Dining Room
Space issues aside, I'm in love with how my rustic glam holiday dining room turned out! I was able to create two separate areas, a dining table and a buffet, in a small corner in my living room.
I ended up using a kitchen cart as my table and the narrow table that my TV usually sits on for a buffet.
The inspiration for my holiday dining room decor was a little rustic (burlap, plaid, etc.) and a little glam (lots of gold and glitter), and it came from a gorgeous garland the Home Depot sent me (more on that later).
Everything turned out so fun and festive, and it's all simple to recreate, too!
The star of this holiday dining room are the rustic glam place settings!
I started by making rustic burlap placemats (visit The Home Depot's blog for the easy tutorial), then topped them my favorite white plates, which are also super affordable. Finally, I added a black napkin and a glittery gift!
Those presents are wrapped in my favorite gold glitter wrapping paper from Paper Source. It's a little messy, but so worth it! I made the labels from small wood tags decorated with gold letter stickers and gold washi tape ... so simple, but cute!
I decorated the center of my rustic glam tablescape with flameless candles and a few glittery pine cones that I've had for years.
My favorite part of the Holiday Style Challenge was the DIY Happy Holidays art that I created using a black board and a gorgeous, glittery wreath.
It was so easy to make, but it added such a unique and festive touch to my space. The full details for this art project are on The Home Depot's blog.
The ribbon, pinecones, and berries in the gorgeous garland I used to decorate my buffet table inspired my rustic glam theme. I used it around two white shutters to create a backdrop for buffet.
I just love the DIY "Fa La La" garland (made with more of that gold glitter wrapping paper backed by a thin mat board and strung with twine) adorning the table, too.
I filled the buffet table with delicious treats, including an easy to set up hot cocoa bar, cookies, and adorable mini bundt cakes.
It's turned out to be the cutest holiday sweets table and coordinated so well with my rustic glam tablescape.
Yum! I'm getting hungry just looking.
No holiday sweets table is complete without a hot cocoa bar.
This caddy with jars is similar to what I used, and it worked so well! I spray painted my caddy gold to go with my rustic glam decorating theme.
Then, I used black card stock and a chalk marker to add the labels.
This marble cake stand is a favorite of mine! I used it to serve chocolate bundt cakes sprinkled with powdered sugar that I made with this bundtlette pan.

What a fun display you've created for your dining room. Love your banner and especially love the hot chocolate supplies out and ready to be used.
