New York has had two snowstorms this week with the possibility of another one this weekend.
It's a winter wonderland, if you overlook the giant, dirty slush puddles, that is. In all seriousness though, I am loving it. I really missed snow when I lived California, so it's nice to be getting a real winter this year.
I've had the Olympics and Valentine's Day on my mind lately, which will be pretty obvious when you see my links this week!
My husband and I never miss the Olympic Opening Ceremonies, and I usually cook a meal inspired by the host country (although we did order takeout for China). However, due to some poor scheduling on my part, we are eating out tomorrow night. I'll definitely be cooking a Russian-inspired meal at some point though! Check out a few recipe contenders on my Olympics Pinterest Board.
If you want to learn more about Russian cuisine, Wikipedia is a good place to start.
I also found a few food blogs worth checking out. Russian Bites, Cooking Melangery, and Delights of Culinaria all have some delicious sounding recipes. Let me know if you can recommend others!
What do you think of the Team USA's Opening Ceremonies Uniforms? Crazy or Cool?
My Conversation Heart Banner would make a great last minute Valentine's Day decoration.
This You're a Gem Watercolor Printable from Persia Lou is so cute and isn't so Valentine's Day-specific that it couldn't be left out year round.
If you are feeling ambitious, use that topper to decorate this amazing Red Velvet Raspberry Swirl Cheesecake Cake from Say It with Cake. Please invite me over if you make this!
Still need a gift for your sweetheart? I've got a bunch Valentine's Day Gift Ideas for you!
This Kitty Cat Eye Tutorial from The Beauty Department would be perfect for Valentine's Day.
Treat your sweetie to a Bag of Kisses. I Heart Naptime has a free printable that is just too cute!
Moving on from the Olympics/V-day ... I love this DIY Striped Bow headband from Cocktail Girl, although I'm probably way too old to pull it off. The directions are not in English, but the pictures are fairly self-explanatory.
I like the idea of removable wallpaper, but it's usually ridiculously pricey. So I was excited to see The Design Confidential's Removable Wallpaper Tutorial. The best part: it couldn't be easier!
I want to make something with blood oranges before they go out of season, and this Blood Orange Loaf Cake from Annie's Eats is at the top of my list.
At Home in Love's DIY Paint Stick Mini Pallets are a really clever way of displaying air plants. I'd like to get a few of these curious plants, but I don't know if they'd survive my black thumb.
I couldn't resist ending with the Olympics ... Are you looking for the perfect drink for your viewing party? Cupcakes & Cashmere has you covered with 3 Olympics Cocktails. I'll take a Sochi Sugared Champagne. Cheers to that!
Are you planning to tune into the Olympics? What is your favorite sport to watch?
P.S. Follow me on Pinterest to keep up with everything that catches my eye!
I'm not a fan of winter - especially snow and ice. I moved from Connecticut to Georgia to avoid it (not doing too well in that respect this year), but I absolutely love your photos! The snow looks so beautiful and peaceful.
We just made the opposite move (from CA to NY)! I'm actually really loving the snow, but then again, I don't need to shovel or drive;)
Love these photos! We have enough snow here for me to be sick of it, but your pics still manage to make it look beautiful!
Thanks, Emma! I moved here from California about a year ago, so I think I'm a little more enamored with the snow than most people;)
Always love your photos though I am glad to be here in the rain and not walking around in that snow!
Ha ... I don't mind the snow, but the cold weather is not very pleasant, that is for sure! Glad to hear you are finally getting some rain in CA!
Wonderful photos. It's so hot in South Florida I can't even imagine what that feels like.
After seeing some highlights of the opening ceremonies I wish I had seen it. The torch lighting looks super cool.
Thanks, Letty:) The cold weather is a bit much, but I love the snow! The opening ceremonies were really amazing - just gorgeous.
Oh my goodness your photos are just amazing!! I admit being in Florida I don't have to shovel any longer, so I just get to enjoy the photos and the idea that it's fun 🙂
Thank you so much, Amanda! Thankfully, I live in an apartment, so no shoeveling for me either:) Not sure I could handle that!
