Do you have a boring beige living room? I think we've all been there!
Although I generally advocate buying neutral furniture (who wants to make an expensive mistake?), unless you add pattern and color with accessories, your home will look pretty blah.
The easiest and least expensive way to interest to a boring room is to change the accessories.
In this new series, I'll show you three different options to take your living room from from flat to fresh in four simple steps, in three differnt decorating styles ... Neutral, Modern, and Traditional.
The Neutral Living Room Makeover is first!
Neutral Living Room Makeover
This first makeover is all about adding neutral details to liven up a plain living room.
Are you color shy? Here's how you can keep the neutral palette. Add texture and pattern with your accessories, instead:
- Replace the plain white shade with a subtly striped lampshade.
- Throw out (or recover) the boring pillows that came with your couch. These oblong grey pillows from Target add a luxurious touch, and the trim adds a subtle detail.
- The star of this look is the gorgeous trellis pattern rug from Rugs USA. Its beautiful tone on tone pattern is so much more interesting than a plain shag rug.
- A blue-grey throw finishes the space with the perfect touch of color.
That's it. Four easy steps and your living room has a fresh, new look!
Next week, I'm showing you how to create an updated traditional living room makeover. Check it out!
