My husband and I have been married for quite a while, and our date nights are usually fairly casual. A quiet dinner, fun movie, and/or a glass of wine are my idea of a great night out.
Every once in a while though, it's fun to put in a little extra effort and kick things up a notch.
One thing that always gets me excited for a special date is creating a fun makeup look, like this easy smokey eye!
Maybelline is a go to brand for me. It's affordable, yet high quality.
I found everything I needed for this easy smokey eye tutorial from Maybelline—including their new Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara!

Easy Smokey Eye Tutorial
Want to create your own smokey eye? Here's what you'll need:
- Color Sensational Lipcolor in Hibiscus Pop
- Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara in Very Black
- Brow Precise Shaping Pencil in Blonde
- Lasting Drama Waterproof Gel Pencil in Smooth Charcoal
- Face Studio Master Glaze in Just-Pinched Pink
- The Nudes Palette
This look is all about big, beautiful, smokey eyes, so I kept the rest of my makeup subtle.
I with a base of foundation and concealer. Next, apply the Face Studio Master Glaze blush directly to your cheek bones. Blend it in with your fingers.
As you can see, my skin is very pale, so I chose the subtle Just-Pinched Pink color.
This is my first time trying this blush, and I have to say that I'm kind of obsessed! The application was super easy, and the color looks so pretty and natural.
If you skin is oily like mine, add a little powder. Then, it's time for brows.
I filled in my brows with the Brow Precise Shaping Pencil. It has a really creamy formula that is ideal for filling in sparse brows.
After filling in your brows, flip the pencil over and use the comb on the other end to perfect their shape.
After finishing your brows, line your eyes with the Lasting Drama Waterproof Gel Pencil.
This liner glides on easily, and I used it to create a wide line on my upper lid. Then, I applied the liner to my waterline (the area between your lower eyelashes and eyeball).
Don't worry if your lining technique is not perfect. A smokey eye can be a little messy.
Applying the liner around your entire eye will make your eyes seriously stand out!
Eye shadow is next. I love the versatility in the range of colors in The Nudes Palette.
Start by applying a neutral shade all over your lid from lashes to eyebrow. Next, apply a deeper shade over your lid, stopping right under your brow bone. Use a small angled brush to apply the darkest shade in a "V" shape to your crease, at the outside corner of your eye, and along the your outer lash line. Finally, apply a pale color to your brow bone and the inside corner of the eye.
You want the different shades of shadow to blend together seamlessly, so spend a little time blending the colors together with a brush or your finger tips.
You can see the colors I used below.
Feel free to experiment with different colors and level of intensity. That's part of the fun!
The star of this easy smokey eye tutorial is the mascara! I used the new Maybelline Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara, and it is going to make your eyes pop!
Want to know the secret to this awesome mascara? It has a patented push-up brush with cup-shaped bristles that will scoop your lashes up from the roots, coating and lifting them a dramatic 45 degrees. Combine the amazing brush with the creamy, plumping formula, and your lashes will be seriously voluminous.
Here's my trick for applying mascara: press the brush against the base of your lashes and gently wiggle the brush as you pull it up. Repeat, applying multiple coats. Do not wait for the mascara to dry between coats.
Check out the difference between my left eye (no mascara) and right eye (Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara) below. How big does that right eye look ... pretty amazing, right?
Finally, finish your pretty date night look by applying a soft, subtle lip color.
I used Color Sensational Lipcolor in Hibiscus Pop. I adore this sweet shade!
It's perfect for a night out and for every day, too.
My favorite thing about this gorgeous smokey eye is that it can be accomplished so easily and without a ton of products!
Let me know if you try this tutorial ... I'd love to hear what you think.
