    Ginnie's Take

Have you tried a Pinkglow Pineapple? I can't resist picking one up whenever I spot them. They are such a fun novelty, and their sweet flavor and vibrant pink color are simply irresistible! While I love snacking on this colorful, juicy fruit, they're even more unexpected when showcased in recipes (hello, Pink Salsa!). This vibrant Pink Pineapple Juice is one of my favorite ways to use this one-of-a-kind fruit, and I just know you're going to fall for this lovely Pink Juice, too!

    Why You'll Love This Recipe

    • Delicious Flavor - Pink pineapples are sweeter, juicier, and less tart tasting than normal pineapples. They truly make the most delightful juice!
    • Super Easy (No Juicer Required) - The recipe is super simple to make, and there's no juicer required. Best of all? This homemade juice is ready in minutes.
    • Sure to Impress - This pink drink is guaranteed to make your next breakfast, brunch, or party more memorable! Serve it as-is, or turn it into a cocktail or mocktail. You'll find lots of tips below!

    Ingredients

You only need one ingredient to make this fresh squeezed juice: a Pinkglow Pineapple! These rose-colored pineapples are grown exclusively by Del Monte in Costa Rica, and they are only available in the U.S. (although not Hawaii) and Canada. They can be a little hard to find, and they're definitely a splurge. I've found them in Dallas for about $8 to $10 (H Mart had the best price), and they're sold in an individual box. You can also purchase them online, although they are much more expensive. Note: Although these pineapples are only available from one brand, I purchased them with my own money. This is not sponsored post.

PRO TIP: Can’t find a Pink Pineapple? No worries, you can use a regular pineapple to make this pretty pink juice, too! Check out the Variations section below for helpful tips.

    You'll Also Need

The only tools you'll need are a sharp knife to prep the pineapple, a blender to puree it, and a fine mesh strainer and a medium bowl to strain the juice (if desired). My high powered Ninja Blender easily handled the job in minutes!

How to Make Pink Pineapple Juice

This tasty Pink Pineapple Drink couldn't be easier to make! You'll find a detailed recipe card below, but here's a quick overview of the process:

    1. Prep fruit. Use a sharp knife to peel and core your pineapple, then cut it into chunks. Tip: Love a gadget? This pineapple corer gets the job done fast!
    2. Puree. Transfer the pineapple chunks to your blender, then blend until smooth. Tip: If you don't have a high speed blender, you may need to stop and stir the mixture a few times as it blends.
    3. Strain. Place a fine mesh strainer over a medium bowl, then add the pureed pineapple. Use a spatula to stir the puree. Once most of the liquid has been removed, press on the pulp to extract as much juice as possible. Tip: You can drink this juice without straining it, too. The texture is similar to a light smoothie.

Okay, time to enjoy your Pink Pineapple Juice! Wasn't that easy?

PRO TIP: If you have a juicer, of course you can use it to make this juice, too! Just peel, core, and chop the fruit before running it through the machine.

    Variations

While this colorful drink is pretty perfect as-is, here are some variations you can try:

    • Fruit Blend - Puree the pineapple with other fruits, such as apples, pears, or berries to create a custom blend.
    • Regular Pineapple - If you can't find a Pinkglow Pineapple (or can't afford one), blend a normal pineapple with your favorite red fruit (such as strawberries, cherries, raspberries, or pomegranate seeds) to create the pink drink.
    • Soda - Mix the juice with sparkling water and a little simple syrup to create a homemade soda.
    • Lemonade - Stir the juice into Lemonade to create a gorgeous pink lemonade.
    • Cocktail - Use the juice to make mimosas or a Pineapple Mojito. You could also serve it over ice with a shot of vodka, gin, rum, or tequila, plus a squeeze of lemon (or lime), for a simple cocktail.
    • Mocktail - For a quick mocktail, mix with sparkling water and add a generous squeeze of lemon, lime, or orange juice.

    Storage

Refrigerate your fresh Pinkglow Pineapple Juice in an airtight container (a small covered pitcher, mason jar, or carafe would all work great). Drink the juice within a day or two for the best flavor.

    Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What's the difference between a pink pineapple and a regular pineapple?

Pink pineapples have been genetically modified to produce lower levels of the enzymes found in conventional pineapple that convert the pink pigment lycopene into the yellow pigment beta carotene. According to the FDA, they are just as safe and nutritious as conventional pineapples. Read more about GMOs and food safety.

What does pink pineapple taste like?

Pink pineapples (also known as Pinkglow pineapples) are sweeter, juicier, and less tart tasting than regular pineapples.

Where can I buy pink pineapples?

Pink pineapples are sold in the U.S. and Canada only (you can purchase them online here). They are not available in Hawaii. I've found them at a number of my local grocery stores. Use this store locator to track one down near you.

Why are pink pineapples so expensive?

Pink pineapples are expensive because they took years to develop, they're only grown in Costa Rica, and they're produced in limited quantities. All of which makes them rare. If you can track them down locally, it's much less expensive than purchasing the pineapples online (about $8-$10 in grocery stores vs. $30+ online). It also pays to shop around. The pineapples I found at H Mart (a large Asian grocery store chain) were about one to two dollars less than those I found elsewhere.

Servings - The amount of servings will vary depending on your pineapple's size, and whether you serve the juice strained or unstrained. My pineapple yielded 6 cups of chopped pineapple, which produced 4 cups unstrained juice or about 2 ⅓ cups strained juice.
