The temperature may still be in the nineties here in Texas (ugh), but fall is almost here!
I couldn't be more excited, and I'm trying to embrace the season even if the weather is not as cool and crisp as I'd like.
One thing that always puts me in a good mood at this time of year is the smell of apples, cinnamon, and pumpkins. These wonderful scents have a way of bringing up memories of seasons past and good times spent with family and friends.
Fall Tablescape
A wonderful scent has the ability to transform a home, especially in fall and around the holidays.
I enjoy changing candle fragrances as the seasons change. It's the perfect way to create warm holiday memories and a joyful atmosphere!
To put myself in the fall spirit, I created a beautiful fall tablescape that's perfect for entertaining. I'm so happy with how it turned out, and I can't wait to show you how to create these simple, inexpensive fall table decorations, too.
Plus, I'm sharing a set of free printable leaf place cards!
I absolutely love burning candles at this time of year (no fall inspired tablescape is complete without them), but any old candle won't do. So I had fun picking some new ones out for my tablescape and home!
Of course, I fell in love with the Pumpkin Pie scent right away. It smells just like a slice of my fave fall pie, and I got a big jar to enjoy in my living room all season long.
And I chose some other yummy-smelling candles to create a cute fall vignette!
How to Create an Easy Fall Tablescape
With autumn as my guide, I knew that I wanted this fall inspired tablescape to include seasonal colors like gold and yellow, but I also wanted it to be bright. There's no need to buy a lot ... start by searching your stash. I looked for anything white, like vases and a few birch stumps, that might work.
Of course, I couldn't resist picking up a few things:
- White pumpkins: I used real ones, but these faux white pumpkins would be great, too, and you can use them again next year.
- Pumpkin Salt and Pepper Shakers: This pair is similar to mine, but I love these gold shakers, too!
- Inexpensive and colorful accessories: I used faux fall leaves, colorful mini pumpkins, and faux sunflowers (I found mine at Walmart, but Michaels and Amazon have great options, too).
- Candles: I used small jar candles from Yankee Candle. Choose a color and scent that goes with your tablescape.
Setting the Table
Start by covering the table with a neutral tablecloth (I used one I made from a canvas drop cloth), then add a burlap table runner. I used one that I created for my Rustic Glam Holiday Dining Room. It was super easy to make from a piece of burlap and added a small rustic touch to my table.
Next, you'll want to set the table. White plates, silver utensils, and clear wine glasses create a neutral backdrop for this fall table setting, while gold chargers add a little bling.
Creating the Centerpiece
To create a beautiful layered tablescape, you'll want to start with the biggest pieces first. In my case, that was the flowers in the middle of the table.
Normally, I prefer to use fresh flowers, but the faded colors of these pretty sunflowers created exactly the look I wanted. Their centers also had the slightest bit of rosy color that tied in perfectly with my candles. Plus, no watering ... which I always seem to forget!
After adding the flowers, scatter a few leaves around the table. You'll layer the remaining items over these leaves.
Add your larger items, like the birch logs and larger pumpkins, next, then filled in the spaces with smaller items. Keep zhushing until you love how it looks!
Leaf Place Cards
I'm all about casual entertaining, but I also enjoy to adding special elements to my table.
A set of pretty leaf place cards is the perfect way to tie your fall tablescape together. (Scroll to the end of the post to download the free printable leaf place cards file!)
Print and cut out the leaf place cards, then use a brush marker to add names. Add a hole with a hole punch and attach the cards to your cute mini pumpkins with twine.
Don't they look adorable sitting atop those gold napkins? I think the leaf place cards are the perfect finishing touch for this fall decorating idea!
These free printable leaf place cards can be used a number of ways (no pumpkins necessary). You could lay them directly on the napkins, wrap the twine tie around your napkins, or put them in a place card holder.
Use your creativity to add your own touch to this fall tablescape idea!
My fall inspired tablescape definitely put me in a seasonal mood, and of course, I took a million photos. How could I resist?
I love this overhead shot of the beautiful fall table setting.
