The temperature may still be in the nineties here in Texas (ugh), but fall is almost here. Fingers crossed! I couldn't be more excited, and I'm trying to embrace the season even if the weather isn't quite as cool and crisp as I'd like.
One thing that always puts me in a good mood at this time of year is the smell of apples, cinnamon, and pumpkins. A wonderful scent has the ability to transform your home, especially in fall and around the holidays. I enjoy changing candle fragrances as the seasons change. It's the perfect way to create warm holiday memories and a joyful atmosphere!
I've been burning all my favorite seasonal candles. And to put myself even more in the fall spirit, I created this beautiful fall tablescape! I knew that I wanted this fall inspired tables to include seasonal colors like gold and yellow, but I also wanted it to be bright and festive feeling.

What You'll Need
Here's are the supplies you'll need to create this autumn tablescape:
- Tablecloth + Runner - Choose a neutral tablecloth (white or cream colored) ... I actually used an inexpensive canvas drop cloth! To the center, I added a burlap table runner.
- Table Settings - For a neutral backdrop, I used my everyday white plates and affordable gold chargers.
- Pumpkins - I used a combination of real white pumpkins (these faux white pumpkins would be a great substitute) and these colorful mini pumpkins (faux).
- Salt and Pepper Shakers - I also found some cute pumpkin salt and pepper shakers (this set looks similar).
- Centerpiece - To create the centerpiece, I used a white metal bucket vase for a rustic touch and artificial sunflowers (these flowers have similar colors).
- Filler - In addition to the pumpkins and sunflowers, you'll need a few other items to fill in the table. I used faux leaves, small jar candles, and birch pillars in different heights to keep the table from feeling too flat and one dimensional.
How to Create an Easy Fall Tablescape
Okay, let's get started decorating this fall table! I'm going to walk you through everything you need to do to create a similar look.
1. Set the Table
Start by covering your table with a neutral tablecloth, then place the burlap table runner down the middle. Tip: I made the runner from a piece of burlap (it's the same one that I used for this Rustic Glam Holiday Dining Room), but you can buy them ready made, too.
Next, you'll set the table. White plates, silver utensils, and clear wine glasses create a neutral backdrop for this fall table setting, while the gold chargers add a little bling.
2. Create the Centerpiece
Once the table is set, start in the middle with the centerpiece. If you're using artificial flowers, simply trim the ends to fit in the vase, then center it on the table.
Normally, I prefer to use fresh flowers, but the faded colors of these pretty sunflowers created exactly the look I wanted. Their centers also had the slightest bit of rosy color that tied in perfectly with my candles. Plus, no watering ... which I always seem to forget!
3. Fill in the Table
After you add the centerpiece, scatter a few leaves down the burlap runner. You'll layer the remaining items over these leaves.
Then add your larger items, like the birch logs and larger pumpkins, next, then fill in the spaces with smaller items. Just keep zhushing until you love how it looks!
4. Add the Place Cards
While I love casual entertaining, but I also enjoy to adding special elements to my table. And a pretty set of place cards is the perfect way to personalize your table and tie the different elements together. You can download these Printable Thanksgiving Place Cards here ... they're totally free!
Once you've download the cards, print and cut them out, then use a marker to add names. I also added a hole and attached the cards to mini pumpkins with twine.
Don't the place cards look adorable sitting atop those gold napkins? I think the leaf place cards are the perfect finishing touch for this fall decorating idea!
And that's all there is to it ... your lovely Fall Tablescape is ready to enjoy! Isn't it beautiful?
