This is one of those recipes that vegans, vegetarians, and carnivores will all love. In fact, my meat eating husband couldn't stop eating them!
Best of all, they seem kinda fancy, but they're beyond easy to make! And of course, they taste amazing, too. Especially when you pair them with a mouthwatering homemade dipping sauce.

This vegan + vegetarian-friendly recipe uses minimal ingredients that you can find in most grocery stores. Here's what you'll need:
- Veggie Hot Dogs - You will need eight vegan hot dogs for this recipe. I used these Lightlife Smart Dogs, but these Field Roast Stadium Dogs would also work great! There are only six hot dogs in the Field Roast package though, so you may want to buy an extra pack if you use those.
- Crescent Rolls - Refrigerated crescent rolls give this recipe its classic flavor, and surprise: Pillsbury Original Crescent Rolls (and other varieties) are actually vegan! They're made with oil instead of butter.
- Toppings - A sprinkle of Everything but the Bagel Seasoning, sesame seeds, or poppy seeds before baking is optional, but makes a delicious finishing touch.
- Dipping Sauce - When it comes to dipping sauce, you've got lots of tasty options! I've include recipes for two homemade dipping sauces. A maple-mustard sauce (that tastes very similar to honey mustard) made with vegan mayonnaise, dijon mustard, and maple syrup. Plus, a yummy Old Bay flavored sauce made with vegan mayonnaise, ketchup, and Old Bay Seasoning. Feel free to make one, or both, or use a different sauce (you'll find more ideas below).

You'll need a knife to cut the hot dogs, and a knife or pizza cutter (this one is similar to mine) to cut the crescent rolls, as well as a baking sheet (these sheet pans are my fave!) to cook the hot dogs, and a small bowl to mix the dipping sauce.
How to Make Vegan Pigs in a Blanket
This tasty vegan appetizer recipe couldn't be easier to make! You'll find a detailed recipe card below, but here's an overview of the steps:
- Cut the hot dogs. Start by cutting each hot dogs into thirds.
- Prep the crescent rolls. Unwrap the crescent rolls, then separate the individual triangles along the perforation marks. Cut each triangle into three strips. (A pizza cutter works great for this!)
- Wrap the hot dogs. Place one hot dog piece on the wide end of a crescent roll strip, then roll it up. Repeat with the remaining ingredients. Don't worry if they don't look perfect ... once they bake, the dough will puff up and hide any imperfections!
- Add the topping. Sprinkle the tops of the crescent wrapped hot dogs with Everything but the Bagel Seasoning, sesame seeds, or poppy seeds. You could also leave some (or all) of them plain, if you prefer.
- Bake. Transfer the wrapped dogs to a baking sheet (no need to grease if it's nonstick), then bake until golden brown.
- Make the sauce. While the recipe cooks, stir together the dipping sauces.
