Need a little inspiration for the new year? Then you won't want to miss the 24 Most Popular Posts from Hello Little Home for 2024! Get inspired by these creative + fun ideas ... there's something for everyone on my annual favorites list!
I don't know about you, but for me, 2024 went by super quickly. Especially the last three months ... I feel like I blinked, and the year was over! So before we head fully into the new year, I wanted do a recap of 2024, both personally and for Hello Little Home. You can read more about my year below, or you can CLICK HERE to skip straight to the most popular posts.
Like most years, 2024 was filled with ups and downs. On the highlight side, it was an epic travel year! I visited friends and family in Wisconsin, Florida, and Chicago, and I took a road trip from Colorado to Texas with my husband's parents. My husband and I rang in 2024 in Madrid, Spain (so fun!) then headed to Seville, traveled to Phoenix, Arizona for Spring Training, went on an amazing springtime trip to Italy (Rome, Florence, Pisa, Bologna, and Siena), saw Paul Weller (my husband's favorite musician) play in New Jersey, NYC, and Chicago, celebrated our anniversary with a wonderful fall vacation to France (Paris, Normandy, and Alsace), and we rounded out the year with a December trip to London and the Cotswolds which was quite rainy / cold, but still quite magical.
I tried to prioritize self-care and slowing down this year. For me, that meant reading lots of amazing books (a list of my 2024 favorites is coming soon!), as well as spending less time watching TV and doom scrolling on my phone. I also made a point to spend more time outside, and with the hellishly hot summers we have in Texas, it was sweaty, but so worth it!
On the less positive side, this was quite the challenging year work-wise. Google made a number of devastating algorithm changes, which took an ax to Hello Little Home's traffic. (You may have noticed the AI summaries and prevalence of Reddit in recent search results ... this has essentially pushed down all other websites / more helpful results in the rankings, which equals fewer visitors). This website is my full-time job, and it was looking pretty demoralizing / dire for a while! I hung in there, and although I'm still not where I was at in 2023, things improved somewhat as the year wore on. Who knows what Google will bring in 2025 though lol!
On a more personal note, I've had a really annoying / painful / embarrassing case of eczema over the last few years, which has been super stressful and has lead to countless doctor's appointments, allergy shots, etc. Thankfully, I have good insurance, and I'm so grateful that my doctor and I finally found a medication that seems to be working. 🤞
Getting back to Hello Little Home ... I want to thank you so much for visiting my website this year, trying my recipes, using my travel tips, writing a note, pinning posts, etc. It truly means the world to me, and I absolutely LOVE hearing from you, so don't be afraid to leave a comment, ask a question, or leave a suggestion!
I have so many exciting things planned for 2025! You can expect lots of delicious recipes + other creative ideas, plus I'm going to relaunch my neglected newsletter (sign up here). I'll also be making some behind-the-scenes website updates that will hopefully improve your user experience. Let me know if you have any suggestions, recipe requests, etc.!
